Shogun

I feel like it's hard to mess up hibachi and it always feels rushed because they sit separate groups at the same time. I had to close the bar tab and by the time I got to the table, everyone else had ordered so I felt like I was holding everyone up. They give you so much food. It is really delicious. Although I'm confused on some of the upcharges. For example, I asked for the fried rice which appeared to be an upcharge of $9.00 on my bill but everyone at the table also got the fried rice...so why was I charged? Almost like I paid for everyone to eat it? The same with the garlic noodles...it was an upcharge that I turned down but still somehow got some on my plate because someone else paid? That's probably why someone walked out at another table without paying their bill because of the charges for side dishes for other people sitting at your table. I'm still confused why I was charged $9.00 for something that the whole table ate. Aside from that, the food is really good...just be willing to spend around $40-$50 each. Also, I didn't see a sushi menu but the sign outside said it was a sushi restaurant...maybe that has since changed and they just haven't updated?

Made a 6pm reservation for 4 people. Weren't seated until 7pm. Chef didn't arrrive until at least 8pm. Soup and salad took over an hour after being seated to arrive. Why accept a 6pm reservation if no chef was available until 8pm? Waitress came once every hour, mostly visibly stood around doing absolutely nothing. She came to drop off food and salad, completely neglecting to even check if we needed more water or drinks. Food was fine. New rule of 20% gratuity for parties of 4 or more, which we definitely would not have tipped if it were an option. My family and I have been loyal customers of Shogun for over 10 years. We will not be returning.

There are a lot of hibachi restaurants and this is the best one around! The food is great, staff is friendly and the chefs are very entertaining. Great for a night out with friends, family celebrating a special occasion or just out for a different dinner experience. Prices are fair and good amount of options for hibachi. Hosts try and get you seated in a good amount of time even on busy nights. You can always have a drink at the large bar area while you wait. Get the garlic noodles!

We arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday. Party of 3. It wasn’t very busy. They advised a 30 minute wait. After an hour, I checked and the hostess had crossed out our name, but promised we would be seated next. Watched several more tables be seated. Asked again. Finally got seated about an hour and a half in. Got our soup and salad. Placed orders. And it was another 30 minute wait fir the chef. The waitress was inattentive. The 3 parties at the table were about to get up and leave when the chef arrived. Then the food was hurried because we were all so hungry. We have been patrons of shogun since they were on post rd. This is the worst experience we have ever had there. If the hostess had been honest about how long it would take to be seated, we would have gone somewhere else and avoided the entire debacle. But all 3 times I checked, we were being seated “next”. It is disingenuous and frustrating. Clearly won’t be back without a bigger party and a reservation if at all.
